First off, My name is Shushu, I'm from the lovely town of Springfield, Virginia. I call it a little military town since a majority of the families that move in and out of Springfield are military. Anyways, the reason I decided to blog was to keep all my little stories and rants about my semester in Italy. Yes I said a semester in Italy. I honestly wish that I found out about AFS back when there was still time to register for a full 10 month journey abroad. But hey, beggars can't be choosers *Kanye shrugs*.
Back to the title of this blog post, this has literally been the longest month and a half of my life. Not only has school started and all the work from that has me stressed out enough, I'm honestly so giddy for it to already be January so I can already be heading over to Italia. I started my application on the 5th of September, I honestly did not give my self enough time to actually look through and thoroughly complete the application since the original dead line was September 10th. Believe me when I say I rushed my application. I really wasn't so surprised when they sent it back to me to finish, I literally started it from scratch and in a matter of a week I was able to hit the submit for a second time. Sadly my application was sent back again and this time I was majorly upset, I saw it got sent back while I was sitting in Starbucks with two friends and I almost ripped my hair out. I fixed this little things that AFS wanted me to and after that it was a waiting game. About three days later I got told that my application was finally finished and I had one last thing to complete before they could actually hit submit, the in-home interview. UGH! The story behind my interview was that I had emailed someone who over-looks the Virginia branch and I never actually heard back from her. After two weeks of not hearing back from her, AFS found a local volunteer and helped set up an interview. The interview took place last night and I am hoping to hear back from AFS later this week.
Till then,
Shushu
